Admission to the Diploma Programme Performing Art (Drama)

Admission to the Diploma Programme Performing Art (Drama) requires the successful completion of an entrance exam. The entrance exam is made up of three parts.

The first two parts of the entrance exam can optionally be taken for each academic year either

  • in March (application deadline: 11 March 2019) in Graz or
  • in April (application deadline: 10 April 2019) in Berlin or
  • in April (application deadline: 10 April 2019) in Düsseldorf or
  • in conjunction with the third part in July (application deadline: 24 June 2019) in Graz.

 

You have to pass each part successfully in order to be able to get on to the next part.

 

Taking the entrance exam is free of charge.

 

Please do the online-application in time to the respective application deadline. Here you can find a tutorial about the online application procedure (German language only).   

 

General prerequisite for studying Performing Art (Drama):

  • German language knowledge at the level C1 (CEFR). See here for the required German language competency for studies at application/admission.
  • Minimum age: 17 years

 

The entrance exam consists of the following parts:

  • Audition of three self-generated role excerpts from theatre texts of max. 5 minutes length
  • Task on spontaneous improvisation and/or performance
  • Tests on the vocal and speaking technical requirements as well as on physical fitness and fitness for the work in the ensemble
  • Check of musical ability

 

Entrance exam expiration:

Part 1 - 3:

  • Audition of the prepared theatre texts out of different literary periods

Here you can find additional important information about the selection of the monologues or scenes.

Please take any required props or costumes with you to the exam.

In addition in Part 3:

  • Tests

on the vocal and speaking technical requirements, on physical fitness and work in the ensemble

  • Improvisation

A spontaneous improvisation and/or performance has to be solved

  • Musical ability

Presentation of an unaccompanied song

The entrance exam is passed when all parts have been successfully completed.

Please mind: After successfully passing the entrance exam you are not automatically admitted to the Study Programme – the enrolment has to be done personally at the Registrar´s Office (Palais Meran, Leonhardstrasse 15, ground floor) in time!
